So, nun gibts einen kurzen Bilderreport meiner zwei Projekte im Moment.

1. Kauni-Jacke: Die ist zusammengenäht, Fäden versäubert, Steeks eingenäht, Knöpfe noch nicht - mit gutem Grund: Ich muss sowohl das vordere wie das Halsbündchen nochmals machen, weil beide viel zu labberig geworden sind. Weil die Wolle ein bisschen steif ist, konnte ich das erst sehen, als das Ding gewaschen und in Form getrocknet war. Das muss also nochmals back to work in progress.

1. Kauni-Cardigan: The cardigan is finished, ends darned in, steeks sown on, buttons still missing - with a good reason: I will have to re-knit the front edging and the neck edging. Both are to sloppy. Since Kauni is a bit stiff, I found that out after having washed and blocked it. So this will have to go back to work in progress.







2. Übungs-Fair-Isle: Da ist der Körper fertig und - Strickcafé sei Dank - die Fäden auch gleich mit vernäht. Mir gefällt er gut, auch wenn ich das Muster auf camelfarbenem Grund immer noch etwas amorph finde. Aber die Regelmäßigkeit der Muster machts irgendwie.

Hier gibts dann noch einen Denkfehler *grummel. Wenn man zwei blau, zwei kamel strickt und eine durch vier teilbare Maschenzahl an den Körpermaschen hat, passiert das, was man auf dem kleinen Bild weiter unten sieht, ähem. Eigentlich wäre die Schulter wunderbar regelmäßig, uneigentlich ist die zweite Mustergebung um zwei verschoben beim Zusammenstricken. Mir gefällt das und ich habs jetzt gedanklich zum Designelement erklärt.

2. Practise-Fair-Isle: The body is finished and - thanks to Knitting café - the ends darned in already. I like it, even if the pattern on the light brown background still looks a bit amorphous. The regularity of the pattern does the trick somehow.

Here I had made a thinking error, however. If you knit 2 blue, 2 light brown in a stitch number divisable by four, you will get what you can see on the small picture. Actually the shoulder is quite straight forward, really the pattern is moved by two stitches. I still like it and I mentally declared it a design element specially invented for the shoulders.

Morgen machen wir im Strickcafe eine Bilderserie fürs Verfilzen von Fäden. Ich hab das noch nirgendwo gesehen bis auf die DVD von schoolhousepress, deshalb machen wir das dann mal so, wie wir zweifädig stricken fotografiert haben - natürlich mit Kuchen im Hintergrund.

Zu letzterem noch ein Hinweis: Ein paar Leute haben das ausprobiert und rausgefunden, dass das Stricken damit eigentlich ganz gut ist, sie aber das Auffassen des Fadens ganz anders machen als ich. Ich kann also nur sagen, eigentlich ist wurscht, wie die Fäden auf den Finger kommen, wichtig ist, dass sie so wie gezeigt auf dem Finger sind.

Tomorrow we will by the way make another series for felting old and new yarn together. I haven't seen that anywhere apart from the DVD of schoolhousepress, so wie will do it like the pictures in stranded knitting - cake in the background and all.

On this a hint: Some people tried that out and found that knitting like that is quite straight forward, still they pick up the strands completely different from my way. All I can say is don't bother, how the strands get to the index finger. It's just important that they are there as shown.
